RoamFree is a planning aid, not a safety authority. Off-road, backcountry, and wildfire-adjacent travel carries real risk. Always verify current conditions, closures, and permits with official land-management sources before you go, and use your own judgment in the field.
By creating an account, or using the RoamFree app or website ("RoamFree", "the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. RoamFree is operated by an individual (Ken Nunez), not a company, as a self-funded personal project.
Subject to these terms, you're granted a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the RoamFree app and website for your own personal, non-commercial trip planning. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the Service, or use it to build a competing product.
RoamFree aggregates route, trail, public-land, camping, weather, wildfire, and related data from a mix of community submissions, open data sources, and third-party providers. This information:
You are solely responsible for verifying conditions before and during travel, for your vehicle's suitability for a given route, for obtaining any required permits, and for your own safety and the safety of your passengers. Off-road and backcountry travel carries inherent risks — including vehicle damage, injury, and death — that RoamFree cannot eliminate or guarantee against.
Places, reviews, photos, and other content submitted by users are not verified or endorsed by RoamFree before being shown to other users. Don't rely on a single community report for a safety-critical decision. You're responsible for the content you submit, and it must not be false, unlawful, or infringe on anyone else's rights. RoamFree may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms, at its discretion.
You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate information when creating an account. You can request account deletion at any time (see the Privacy Policy).
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. RoamFree does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times — as a one-person project, planned and unplanned downtime can happen.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ROAMFREE AND ITS OPERATOR WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY, OR DEATH, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE OR RELIANCE ON ANY INFORMATION IT PROVIDES — INCLUDING ROUTE, TRAIL, WEATHER, WILDFIRE, OR PUBLIC-LAND INFORMATION — EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. TO THE EXTENT ANY LIABILITY CANNOT BE EXCLUDED BY LAW, ROAMFREE'S TOTAL LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO USE THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (WHICH, FOR A FREE SERVICE, IS ZERO).
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless RoamFree and its operator from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these terms, or content you submit.
RoamFree is free to use. Donations made through the in-app or website donation links are voluntary contributions to support hosting and development costs — they are gifts, not payments for a product, service, subscription, or any guaranteed feature, and are non-refundable.
RoamFree is under active, ongoing development and may change, add, or remove features at any time. These terms may also be updated from time to time; the "Effective" date above reflects the latest revision. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
You may stop using RoamFree and delete your account at any time. RoamFree may suspend or terminate access for anyone who violates these terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have where you live. Any dispute not subject to mandatory arbitration or small-claims jurisdiction will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Arizona, and you consent to that venue.
